We all know that Rec Room is shutting down on June 1st. This has sparked interest in the Rec Sports community as to, what's next? Some communities depending on the sport will be completely shut down, and while some may move to different VR games, but the one thing that the community can agree on is that Radium will be next.
Radium, not the element, is a copy of rec room that was set to be for nostalgia. (the game is set in 2020's rec room) With the recent and tragic news of Rec Room being shut down the community has unanimously agreed to move to radium. Radium has seen a significant spark in new players which has been very problematic for the game developers.
"The servers cannot run smooth enough for the entire rec room community to move to radium" said a developer. "The servers weren't made for this much players to be on. Technically speaking we have dreaded the shut down". This spark in players is clearly not good for the game but there is no signs of stopping as people want a replacement and want it fast.
Although it seems like the cons outweigh the pros there is many pros! As we have seen it is basically rec room without the modern features which we know from rec room community is enjoyed. Although it may be laggy for the time being I personally enjoy it as it feels like rec room still. Yes radium can improve, any game can improve. But for now we need to enjoy what we have that is radium and be open minded to new opportunities.
